Although she is regularly booked to sing in English, covering a range of songs from the 1960s and musical theatre, Lucy Hope alias The Chanteuse is known as one of the UK’s leading exponents of French chanson and has over seven years professional experience singing for high net-worth clients at the most stunning events and venues on both sides of the channel – indeed across the world. From regretting rien with Edith Piaf to ra-ta-ta-ta-taing with Manhattan Transfer, she has the perfect repertoire of “chansons d’amour” for every soirée.
The Chanteuse’s career highlights include singing for Sir Alex Ferguson twice at private functions, including his birthday. She has dazzled at three of Mike Summerbee’s annual Christmas luncheons at Manchester City’s Etihad stadium and three of Paul Nicholls’ annual horse Owners’ Day events in Somerset and has sung twice with Raymond Blanc providing music to accompany his beautiful French cuisine. She has intoxicated with her performance through the carriages of the beautiful Orient Express train and serenaded at: The Houses of Parliament, Claridge’s Hotel; London’s Natural History Museum; Hampton Court; Tatton Park; Salperton Estate; Nunsmere Hall, a whole host of English stately homes; as well as at Manchester Cathedral for the last three annual Christmas concerts.
She has entertained at some of the main events on the Cheshire and Manchester calendar, including the Crème de la Crème Ball, The Mirror Ball the Manchester Evening News Diary Party. She has also performed her idol Piaf’s Je Ne Regrette Rien solo on stage at the Bridgewater Hall.
She has entertained with her captivating delivery in Manchester United’s corporate sponsors’ lounge at all home games for two seasons in Old Trafford’s exclusive Platinum Suite.
As well as a number of loyal clients who book The Chanteuse for all their parties (she has sung at the weddings of multiple siblings within the same families), she also was the singer for every WPO (World Presidents’ Organisation) function under the presidency of Brian Scowcroft, singing regularly for some of the most successful CEO’s in the UK.
She has also performed in support for artists from Viv Albertine to Showaddywaddy, The Drifters, Pixie Lott and UB40.
She has just released an album under her French alias The Chanteuse called “Modiano” which has garnered excellent national press and she performed songs off the album on national and international French radio.
The Chanteuse’s performance is bi-lingual (English & French) and clients can choose the language in which they wish her to sing. The majority choose a combination of the two.
She is available to perform solo with professionally-recorded playback tracks, with live piano or guitar and with various options of ensemble accompaniment, including piano, guitar, bass, drums, violin, accordion and brass.
She reinterprets the songs of Dusty Springfield, Nancy Sinatra, Edith Piaf, Juliette Greco, Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg, Barbara, Georges Brassens amongst many others.
She also performs well-loved songs from the 1960s translated into French, as many stars of the time did with their best hits, such as These Boots Are Made for Walking, Somethin’ Stupid and Always Something There to Remind Me.
